10 reasons to choose Havant

1

We’ll provide the best teaching which leads to outstanding student progress

Our teachers are friendly, experienced, full of ideas and real experts in their subjects. Above all, they’re committed to helping you get the grades you need for whatever you plan to do next. We are very proud that many of our students exceed their target grades.

2

We’re your kind of people

At Havant Sixth Form College, you’ll be with like-minded people who want to work hard, do well and get on in life. We’re a tightknit community of around 1100 students and you’ll be on first name terms with your teachers, who’ll set high standards and then help you achieve them.

3

We’ll put YOU first

It’s your life, your future, so we’ll help you put together a programme of study that gets you where you want to go. Before you enrol you can use our Open Evenings, a Taster Day or our Student Shadowing Scheme to get some ideas, then talk through your options in detail at your one-to-one interview. At every stage, we’re here to listen, advise and support you in your choices.
4

We’ll give you more choice

We offer an extensive range of A Levels as well as the Extended Project, BTEC Diplomas, GCSEs and a Pre-Degree Foundation Diploma in Art & Design. At your interview, we’ll discuss your plans and ambitions and put together a programme of study to suit you.
5

We’ll develop your digital learning skills

Havant Sixth Form College will be using Google for Education as an integrated digital platform for all your teaching and learning. This exciting use of technology will be embedded throughout the College’s curriculum, equipping you with skills in industry-recognised cloud-based applications for your onward career journey.

6

We’ll help you develop your talent

If, like many of our students, you’ve been identified as Gifted and Talented (G&T) at school – academically, in sport or the arts – or if you have done exceptionally well in your GCSEs, we’ll put together a special programme of activities and study to help you make the most of your unique abilities.

7

We’ll support you, whatever your needs

We don’t want anything to come between you and your ambitions. If you require help managing your time, need guidance on revision, or you’re dealing with dyslexia or any other learning difficulty, you’ll get the right support. We post regular reports on Moodle, our virtual learning environment, and hold regular consultation evenings, to let your parents or guardians know how you’re doing, and how they can best help and support you in your studies.
8

We’ll help you take your next step

Whatever you hope to do after leaving college, our dedicated Careers Team will help get you there. They specialise in UCAS coaching – in 2015 and 2016, approximately 80% of our students went on to study at university – but they can also help you plan a gap year, go on to other types of study or find your first real job.

9

We offer you a rich, fulfilling student life

Our enrichment programme provides opportunities to try new things, take existing skills and interests further and meet new people – all great preparation for university and life after college. You can also join our Team Havant sports, go on trips in the UK and overseas, or take part in activities related to your studies. You’ll also be a member of our Student Union, which organises social events right through the year, including the Christmas Fair, Battle of the Bands, charity fundraising and much more.

10

A great location

Not only are we just a few minutes walk from Havant’s bus and train stations, we’re also close to Havant town centre with its array of shops and food outlets. We also offer a travel subsidy if you live over 8 miles away and have teamed up with Stagecoach to offer you the Unirider ticket – a flexible 7 day bus ticket heavily discounted for students.
