These courses are for those working within a healthcare environment. They are made up of a number of units which are key to working within the demands of the health sector e.g. communication, equality and inclusion, health and safety, infection control, duty of care, person centred approach and safeguarding. In addition there are a number of option units that can be tailored to specific job roles within the health sector.
Who is it for?
These courses can be undertaken by those in a Healthcare assistant role. In order to undertake these qualifications you need to be working either as an employee or as a volunteer.
Your level of qualification will be determined by the job roles you undertake – our staff will provide advice and guidance to select the most appropriate level for you.
The benefits to the learner and employer
This qualification will enable learners to develop knowledge, understanding and skills relevant to working in the Health sector.
All the Diplomas we offer contribute towards the Apprenticeship.
How will I be assessed?
You will build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and experience. In addition your assessor will undertake a number of observations of you at work, demonstrating your competence.
How much does it cost?
If you meet any of the following criteria you may be eligible to study your chosen course for free:
- You are aged 19 to 23 years and in receipt of active beneﬁts (e.g. Job Seeker’s Allowance, Employment Support Allowance).
- You are aged 24 or over and in receipt of active beneﬁts (e.g. Job Seeker’s Allowance, Employment Support Allowance) and studying up to a Level 2.
For those not on active benefits:
You may be entitled to Level 2 fee remission if you are aged between 19 and 23 years on 1st September 2015 and do not possess a level 2 qualification (equivalent to 5 GCSE’s A* to C or NVQ 2).
You may be entitled to level 3 fee remission if you are aged between 19 and 23 years on 1st September 2015 and do not possess a level 3 qualification.

24plus Learning Loan
If you are aged 24 years and over and wish to study for a level 3 (or above) qualification you may be eligible to apply for a learning loan to cover the cost of the course. Please contact us for more information, or visit www.gov.uk/advanced-learning-loans.
