Why study Physical Education?

This is an academic and practical study of physical education, opening the door to a vast array of university sports courses and a huge range of opportunities in sports science, therapy and coaching, sport and exercise science, teacher training and leisure management. It’s a great way to reflect on and develop your own sporting performance and coaching, as well as developing an analytical approach that will be useful in any university and career choice.

What will I study?

In your two years, you’ll study modules in Physiological Factors Affecting Performance, Psychological Factors Affecting Performance of Skill, Sociocultural and Contemporary Issues. Over the course of study you will be assessed on your performance or coaching skills and your evaluation of another individual’s performance in their main sport.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by examination (70%) and be assessed in one practical sport, and conduct a performance analysis (30%).

What are the entry requirements?

The entry requirements to an A Level programme is five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language and Mathematics.

You will also need single or additional science GCSE at grade 4 or above. 

What Havant adds to this

You’ll go on trips to local universities and strength and conditioning facilities. You will have the opportunity to represent Team Havant in a wide range of sporting activities.
